The Ancestry of Linwood Rideout
Linwood is the son of Phillip Linwood Rideout.
Phillip Linwood Rideout
Phillip Linwood Rideout was born on September 20 (?).
He married Delphiana Brown. She was born in 1894, in Gardiner, ME. Both were well known, and very active in the community of Bowdoinham, ME.
Children of Phillip and Della Rideout are:

1. Linwood Brown Rideout, born in Richmond, ME, Monday April 16, 1917
2. Howard, born April 22nd, 1919, died 1919
3. Phyliss, born 1921, died 1921

Jacob Johnson Rideout
Phillip, see above, is the son of Jacob Johnson Rideout.
Jacob Johnson Rideout was born on February 29, 1869, and died on November 9, 1903.
He married Nellie Stockman, who was born on July 13, 1870 in Camden, ME., the daughter of Levi J. Stockman and Mary Jane Whitten.  
Jacob and Nellie Rideout are buried at Village Cemetery in Bowdoinham, ME., with their daughter, Eva.
The children of J.J. Rideout and Nellie (Stockman) Rideout were:

1. Eva A., born May 9, 1890
2. Percy John, born on February 11, 1892 (* see below for more information)
3. Phillip Linwood (from whom Linwood Rideout descends)

*Percy John Rideout was an officer of the Cumberland Light and Power Company, and owned a farm. He married 1st to Frances Carr (no children). He then married Helen Odencrantz, who was born in Portland, ME. Their children were: Lois Ann, born 1934 in Portland, ME., and Phillip Linwood
John Pierce Rideout
Jacob Johnson Rideout (see above, is the son of John Pierce Rideout)
John Pierce Rideout was born on November 20, 1831 in Bowdoinham, and died on January 8, 1911 in Bowdoinham. He was a master shipbuilder, and member of the K.P. He assisted in building the "Kearcearge". He was on the committee that brought the old Red Cast Iron Bridge to Bowdoinham. He was a very prominent citizen.
He married 1st to Elizabeth Hall, who was born in February, 1832, and died on June 19, 1863.
The children of John Pierce and Elizabeth Rideout were:

4. James, born 1863

John Pierce married 2nd to Naomi W. Mitchell, who was born November 24, 1844 in Auburn, and died in September, 1917 in Bowdoinham.
The children of John Pierce and Naomi Rideout were:

1. William E.
2. Jacob Johnson (from whom Linwood Rideout descends)
3. George A., born May 18, 1871, died September 9, 1917
4. Ruel Bickford
5. Nathan, born about 1876
6. Martha L., born about 1878

Jacob Rideout, Jr.
John Pierce Rideout, see above, is the son of Jacob Rideout, Jr..
Jacob Rideout, JR. was born on January 1, 1805 in Bowdoinham, ME. . He died on May 12, 1882.

He married to Jane Allen in 1825. Jane was born in 1808 in Harpswell, ME, and died on December 30, 1869.
On the 1880 Bowdoin Census, he is shown as a farmer, aged 80, head of household. His age on the census shows that his parents may not have been married at the time of his birth, either that or their marriage year could be incorrect. In August, 2004, I sent a request to the Pembroke, ME Town Clerk to request any marriage or birth records for this family, however to date, I have not heard from that office.

7. Susanna, born 1834 in Bowdoinham, ME., died July 1915. Married to George Allen
8. Mary, born 1837 in Bowdoinham, ME., died 1875
9. Lydia, born 1838 in Bowdoinham, ME., married ? Roberts
10. Fairfield, born 1841 in Bowdoinham, ME., died May 1860 in Bowdoinham, ME.
11. Sarah E., born 1843 in Bowdoinham, ME., died 1880 in Auburn, ME.
12. Martha A., born 1844 in Bowdoinham, ME., died 1927 in Franklin, NH. Married Mr. Rowe
13. James, born about 1846 in Bowdoinham, ME. (must have died young, as a second James is born to this couple in 1849)
14. Abigail, born 1848 in Bowdoinham, ME., died 1900 in Auburn, ME. Married Henry Roberts (?)
15. James K., born 1849 in Bowdoinham, ME., died 1929. Married Keate [Kate?] E. Turner

Jacob Rideout, Sr.
Jacob Rideout, Jr. was the son of Jacob Rideout. It is through Jacob, Sr., our common ancestor, that the Rideouts of Dorchester, Mass, are related to Linwood Brown Rideout.
