Welcome
To Walk Where They Walked -
The History of the Rideout Family of Dorchester, Mass.
Although the name does not, for most people, conjure up images of fame and fortune, the history of the Rideout family in the United States is certainly rich in its own right. From two brothers, some say father and son, who came from England in the early 1700s, and settling first near Philadelphia and Maine, their descendants today, cover the globe. This website is to introduce you to the ancestors of the Rideouts of Dorchester, Mass., USA, and to enable you to learn more about the places where they settled, the hardships that they endured, and the joys and successes that were theirs. This website is to help you to 'Walk Where They Walked'.
The information and photos on this site are the result of many years worth of research, and although most of this is documented, some is my personal commentary. There is a possibility that some information may not be correct, as genealogical research is often tricky.
I would like to hear from other researchers, near and far, and would gladly share information and notes, or point out any problems that may be present in my research. I have more materials that I have accumulated over the years, more than I can possibly put on this website in a lifetime. With that being said, I look forward to adding more of that material as time permits, so please check back often.
And one other thing. Please note that there is a link on the top of this page that will allow you to contact me, and give me some general information about any research that you may be doing. Feel free to use that contact form to share with me, or to request other information of me as well.
They say that all Rideouts in America are related. So I welcome you, my distant cousin, to this website, and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed researching our ancestry.

website news and updates
A website that might interest you...
I don't usually do any kind of advertising on this site, however, I've recently found a cool site that I'd like to share with everyone. This site allows you to clean out your old junk drawers, and trade that stuff for something that you might want, and it's all FREE! Click on the banner below to learn more! When I say FREE, it's free to list your auction items, free to bid, free to buy!
